Total Aquariums Inc, located in Lynbrook, on Long Island is seeking qualified individuals to join their staff of top-ranked Aquariums Specialists and Maintenance Technicians.



Current Available Positions: F/T and P/T are available.

  • Aquarium Specialist
  • Maintenance Technician



Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of aquarium systems (salt water, fresh water and reef tanks) and their components
  • Knowledge of aquarium environments and their chemical and biological structures
  • Professional or personal experience with aquarium maintenance
  • Interest in fish and aquatic environments
  • Good oral communication and customer service skills
  • Must enjoy working with people, be self motivated and organized.
  • Must be responsible and able to work independently
  • Previous Retail Experience preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80lbs
  • Must be able to stand for long periods.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Valid NYS Drivers License--(Maintenance Technicians)



Job Descriptions:

Aquarium Specialist:
1. Prepares food and feeds fish and other aquatic life according to schedule.

2. Monitors thermometers to determine water temperature in tanks and adjusts thermostats to maintain specified temperature.

3. Collects water samples, compares samples to chart for acid analysis, and adds chemicals to maintain specified water conditions.

4. Cleans tanks and removes algae from tank windows, cleaning of various pads, sponges, filter media.

5. Observes fish and aquatic life to detect and treat disease, injury, and illness, according to instructions.

6. Maintains aquatic plants and decorations in aquatic displays.

7. Collects information from customers and interacts with customers in a polite and professional manner regarding their home aquariums. Troubleshoots any problems that may arise with customers home aquarium.

8. Assists in the preparation of Aquarium Set-ups

9. Execution of daily tasks assigned by the Store Manager.

10. Recieving and processing fish and retail supply orders.



Maintenance Technician:


1. Cleaning and maintenance of aquariums in both residential and commercial settings

2.Identifying problems or potential problems with aquariums and taking the necessary steps to resolve those issues

3.Applying preventive measures to maintain healthy aquatic environments

4.Installation, maintenance and repair of aquariums and aquarium components (lights, skimmers, pumps, etc)

5.Moving aquariums

6.Water testing

7.Identifying and treating fish disease

8.Delivery of fish and fish products to customers.

9.Recording daily activities, including detailed time logs and product delivery

10. Other tasks as assigned
