The other day I was heading over to Tap Plastics to get some acrylic for a project and who do I run into? Matt! He said something to the effect that's where all reefers go on their days off. Well I said I needed to build an overflow, he said take pictures for me... well here's a picture.
I'm really digging these flooded drain overflows, no bubbles in the sump, no sounds at all from them. The downside is you need enough space for two drains, don't ask why I use 1.5" for the emergency drain, I think it was more of an idea of I had it from the old drain, so why not use it.
So what I did here for about $15 in parts (some of which I had laying around), is I build a little box (bottom part) used some weldon-16 and slap that sucker against the wall and the existing coast to coast overflow (top part), had to do a little repair work since my overflow wasn't exactly level with the tank (filling gaps and all that rot). Then some PVC, a gate valve, and voila done!
Also noticed I need to shorten the cord length on that vortech!
