Just upgraded problems

I upgraded yesterday from a 40 to a 90. Went to be every thing was good. Woke up this morning to 3 dead fish and cloudy water. To make matters worse I have jury duty. Any suggestions on what I should do when I get home?

Carbon and heavy water change as well as if you haven't already removal of all dead inhabitants

Also how long was the 40 up and did you use your old sand? If it was up for a good amount of time I would of used new sand.

40 was up for 4 years. I used new sand. Do you think I should use ammonia lock. Or just do a 20 gal water change

Ok. Ammo lock can't hurt. Then do a heavy W/C.

Are you getting a high ammonia reading?

I am not sure. I was not able to do anything before I left. Cloudy water and 3 dead fish

Before you use any chemicals read this:

In your shoes which I am I would remove the dead fish since you have access to them. Follow with water changes, and run small amount of carbon changing the carbon out every other day.
