I've been thinking of doing the whole LED thing. I guess I really need to talk to someone as to which LED's i need for (2) 54 corner setups and (1) 92 corner setup. I'd like to do it on my fuges as well to cut down even more. Anyone have recommendations that are a little less of a hit to the pocket without sacrificing quality and reliability?

I can't get rid of the chillers. My place is always warmer than most and if the tank is supposed to be in a location that is 5-10 degrees cooler then I'll be in real trouble without them but it is a nice idea.

In the winter my house is 74-75 degrees. When it isn't cool enough to use the heat and not hot enough for a/c my house is 76-85 degrees on days that are less than 85 out.

I've recently converted to acan LEDs I only have 1 90 reef though. Not sure if anybody mentioned previously but you could add 2 litre frozen bottles to your sump but you would obviously have to be on it constantly.

The idea of the water bottles is great for someone who isn't as lazy as I can be when it comes to constantly having to keep up with things not to mention that my fuges have no room for anything especially on my 54's. I Have my return section full of rubble on my 92's fuge but I guess I could remove it if I had to

i feel Leds aren't going to solve the heat issue. If the room temp is higher than what you want your tank at, then the chillers will run.

Dosen't take long for a beer to get warm in an 84 degree room

72-74 in winter isn't bad. all the tanks have issues or just the 92?

Also, if you run the tanks without the glass covers you can get away with less lighting, because your not losing it through the glass.

I agree that LED's are not "The" solution but once you get over the initial cost.... they certainly would help counterbalance the expense of the chillers running.

To test out all of our theories today I'm drinking some beers slowly and quickly and closely monitoring and recording all data to better inform myself as well as others. All of my daylights are on at the moment what I'm figuring out is that the more beers that I finish is the warmer that I feel

seriously tho.... Thank you all for your replies. I will be using lots of your input and a few of my own ideas that are only crazy until I prove that they work. :smash:

I finally figured out how to post pics. Please don't be too critical.... I only set this tank up 8 weeks ago and I've just been trying to fill it with whatever I could get my hands on so it didn't look like a pile of live rock. Soon I will be more picky as to what I put in it. There's also a nice sized learning curve for me. I've only been into this for 6 months starting with semi-aggressive and getting out of that and 3 months getting into reef.
