Make sure you have a sand bottom, as it will like to drive in the sand from time to time, though in time it will only do this at night. Basically try Mysis and Pellet food, as once it starts to eat it should eat just about anything. the big thing is getting it to start, so I wouldn't buy one unless you see it eating.

Which one are you looking at? There are 5 different ones available and some are more challenging than others. Mine likes to pick at the rock all day and is still skidding after 2 years in the tank. A sand bed is a must as mentioned earlier. Make sure it is eating in the Lfs before buying it. I have mine eating everything including pellets. I need to look up the exact name of my leopard.

Agreed. The trick is finding a healthy one that is already eating. Also, some species are considerably more difficult than others. I would avoid M. choati and M. geoffroyi ( potters wrasse) if you have never kept leopards before. It is very common for Leopards to bury in the sand for days and it often takes days for them them to adjust to the light cycle of your system, coming out in the middle of the night when no one is around.

If you don't have a sandbed, don't even bother with them, and if you aren't at least a moderately experienced fishkeeper I'd pass as well. Leopard wrasses used to all be VERY difficult to keep, but collection and shipping practices have improved in recent years and I would now term them as moderately difficult. What species did you have in mind?

I have a Meleagris for almost two years now. As mentioned a sandbed and plenty of rockwork is a must for them to feel secure and forage for food. It took me about 3-4 days to get mine to accept brine and PE mysiss. It now eats almost everything except flakes.
