Just wondering if anyone knows how long does a cleaner shrimp live for in captivity. Mine, a full size adult just kicked the bucket. It started to go into hiding like it usually does before a molt and according to my calender it was on its normal cycle. Woke up the next moring finding it stuck in the sand, couldnt move its back parts, and then a couple of hours later it was dead.
I had it for around 5 months and all my water param are fine.

Thanks

Everyone, thanks for the quick replys. I am such a total noob I really depend on all of you to show me the way :)
House of laughter, I use Kents Tech I for iodine dosing. Honestly, I do 10 percent water changes each week and wonder if Tech I is really needed.

Thank again

My shrimp have molted too many times to count and I have been watching their growth. They are a mystery. My scarlet skunk, banded coral, and peppermint shrimp have started with me since spring and have grown even through the heat wave. The molting happened the most when they were younger, approximately once every two weeks. Now it has slowed down but the younger the shrimp the more shedding will happen.:lobster: Sorry to hear about your loss. :frown:

mine is hiding all the time. bought him 2 weeks ago and he's molted already. i've noticed that his color became more saturated after the molt.
