doc i think you can definitely keep even the most light demanding corals in your tank with an 8 bulb t5 ho fixture, again a different opinion.i actually think that for the width of a 55 maybe four bulbs might be enough.

a few months back the tank of the month on the bigger site, REEFCENTRAL, was one lit mainly by t5.the assortment of corals, specially sps was more than most people keep in their tanks.if i remember correctly the guy also mentioned he was getting good growth with the t5s.

fastuno on this site had his tank lit by t5 and switched over to metal halide, try getting his opinion.

hope this helps.....

btw in time, lol, in time hahaha, i plan to light my 180 with 8 t5 54 ho watt bulbs and maybe just maybe two mh.the addition of the halides would only happen if i think i need more light after the 8 t5.

Thanks for the help everybody. I ended up getting a 4 bulb PC from Jawwad for $100 with the bulbs. He even threw in my first frag for free!!! :):thanks: I have 2 actinics, one white and one 50/50 bulb. How often do I have to change them? Also half my tank looks more green and half white. Is the green cause by the 50/50 or the white bulb? once again thanks everyone.
