First, pat the fish gently on the dorsal fin to try to calm it down. Then, firmly grab it in one hand. If you feel a sensation in your hand, just try to ignore it. Holding the lionfish firmly, take your other hand, pry open its jaws, and use your index finger to sweep out its entire buccal cavity, much the way you would for a choking infant.

Once the crab has been dislodged, throw it into a pot of boiling water to cook it for dinner, and release the lionfish.

To counter the effects of the venom pumped into your other hand, immerse your hand in the boiling water to denature the proteinascious venom. This helps considerably, until your skin start to peal off.

When that begins to happen, remove what remains of your hand from the pot of boiling water, and feed your lionfish something more bight-sized.

I don't think there is anything you can do. For one thing, you don't know if it was actually swallowed.

Could you try feeding it some live food to try to get its attention? Some guppies or something? (Do they still make guppies?)
