I just received one of these from Marine Depot, problem is it just came in a plain bag with no instructions. The Module comes with some air-line tubing connected to a plastic tube on suction cups.
I'm going to use it in my sump to control the water level. Can someone tell me how to install this thing and where on the LiterMeter pump do I plug it in? I have an e-mail in to Marine Depot but have not received a reply yet.
Thanks

Jimmy,

The module plugs into the 12V power plug on your LM/LM3. The way it's designed to work is that it shuts off the power to the LM when the water level is too high. Once the water level goes down, the power to the LM is reestablished. You're suppose to set the LM's flow a little higher then your evap rate. The top-off module will then make sure the water level (in your sump) stays level, shutting off the LM if the water is too high.

BTW, the wall plug goes into the top-off module (there is a power plug for it on the opposite side of the cable). It's basically slots in between the wall power and the LM and acts as a on/off high-level float switch.

Thanks that helps. So, then the tubing connects to the top of the module and the plastic tube goes inside the sump. When the water level rises inside the tube and reaches the top of the tube it interrupts power to the pump correct?

Yes, the tubing connects to module and the plastic tube goes into the sump. I'm not sure if it's suppose to be submersed though. Some of these float valves works off pressure gradients (when water covers the bottom of the tube and rises, the pressure in the tube activates the float switch). You can find out with simple trial and error: start high, push down into the water, and see at what point it shuts off.

take and hook the whole thing up. Plug the level control module into the litermeter while OUT of the water.

Turn everything on, and slowly start lowering the tube into a glass of water. When the litermeter shuts off, mark where the water line is on the tube. That's your shut-off depth. I actually marked the whole way aroudn the tube so I can see it from any side.

Attach to your sump and line up your water level mark with your desired water level.

I actually took mine and zip-tied it to an old maxi-jet bracket, so I have better suction cups.
