looking for a recommendation on the skimmer (rated for 150g or higher)

hello all.

I am going to upgrade to a 110g tank in a month or so and I am now looking for a recommendation on a skimmer.
My new setup will include a 110g as a display and a 40g sump. So am probably looking for something that is going to be rated for at least 150g or so. Which skimmer would best suite for this setup that you could recommend?

I thought of reusing my current skimmer (SRO 1000XPSSS) that I have running on the current 35g frag tank, but I do not think it's going to be enough (might be okay for short term I guess as it is only rated for up to 125g).

All Inputs will be considered.

thanks
Farmer

I love the skimz line for the money. I use the sk 181 on a 100 gallon system and it does a great job helping me to keep a low nutrient reef. Very quiet, easy to dial in, and extremely consistent.

octo line = junk.. long story behind opinion, their recirc cones arent bad.
my top chioce is a abt 840 v2, then the skimz sm181 cone, the sro1000 more then likely will be too small especially if stocked

I never had any problems with my Octo skimmers, however I was looking at the Bubble King, Vertex and ATB at some point. I think the ATB is a superb skimmer but its on a different league compared to the Reef Octopus.

I have had the following skimmers. Aquac, Lifereef, MTC, Mrc(dual becketts), Spazz skimmer(long story), ITEch. I liked them all beside the Aquac. At the end of the day I bought an MRC ORca-pro II from a member on here and absolutely loved it. In 3 months I loved it so much I bought the pro-III. The build quality and the simple ease of setting it are a dream!!!! simple and skims very very well. Just my 2cents. The beckett skimmers I owned probably skimmed the best, however they just needed to get cleaned way to often to perform correctly and were not as easy to set(constant tweeking). I have seen many Bubble kings in action and many people love them until they need a part and have to wait forever to get it !!!! Here is a link to the pro I. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. If you are I will buy it back from you for my frag tank !!!!!

I have a SRO LX-1000S hang on and that thing is monster in size and use. Pulls out the nastiest gunk w/o needing a break in even after removing it and cleaning it thoroughly.

I am sure the pump is why it's good, uses a Bubble Blaster.

Only downside is now I am going to set up a sump and this will require some modification to work with a much lower water level...
