Looking to buy about 3-4 anthias for my 90gal. I just haven't picked the type. I need some color and wrasses are out of the question (open top). Anyone have any suggestions as to which type the like. I also don't want to break the bank so I was looking at the dispar or lyrtails. Thanks for any comments.

Vance,

Mike (NYAquatic) sells very nice anthias. I got 3 lyretail from him and they are good sizes... and very nice colors.. check his website..

Just checked and he does have great pricing. Did you pick the lyretail over the others for any particular reason? I haven't seen him post in awhile with any Manhattan deliveries.

I checked out that link before I posted the thread. Most of the pics aren't labeled so I wasn't sure which were lyretail and which were dispar. The pic that ink posted, was that a dipar?

I've heard that anthias are jumpers as well, especially if one of your four turns male and decides that "there can only be one!"

Fishtown has some good prices and selection on anthias as well.

I love the anthias, I was considering 2-3 Bartletts...just don't think I could keep them in a 65. Anythoughts?

I think there is a chance that any fish will jump. When I moved my tank out the basement about a year ago, I moved everything into a new tank and stand. I left the old stand where it was untill last week, when I moved the stand out of the basement to make room. I found my female gold stripe clown, all dried up on the floor behind the stand. She had gone missing about six months before I broke the tank down.,

Thanks for all the input. I'm tempted to get the lyretail for its hardiness but I don't want the aggressiveness. I guess I have to look for a dispar that is eating mysis before I buy. I do have an open top but hopefully none will decide to carpet surf.

H20 on QB had a couple of nice anthias for sale. I think they had pairs of dispars and bicolors. Check with them to see if they are eating prepared foods.
