hi i'm new to reefing just started a jbj 28 gallon nano tank, so far i have 40 pounds of LS and around 45 pounds of LR in it. I want to have acro on the top part of the tank thats y i have alot of LR so i stacked it high and created high ledges under my 150 watt halide. Im also interested in other coral like ricz and yumas and zoos. I don't need something huge something small would be very nice and im willing to pay:grouphug:.

Well first on my list would be some nice Acropora
but im also interested in rics/yuma's, some nice zoos especially the ones like (armor of god) and anything else thats nice or rare=P

I plan on this being a invert reef so pom pom crabs and such little shrimp and crabs are goin into it:usa1:

I live in staten island and anyone close would be very cool

acro's require very gd quality water...you might want to stay away from all SPS for a while.
Pom Pom's can stingy you reef(corls, etc)...but they have tiny anemones that dont have much stinging potential.

PM sent about coral

yea true pom pom crabs have the little anemones but im not worried to much they don't go aroudn and rub there pom poms on each acro in the tank heheh=P

Well yea ur prob right i should stay away from acro but from what i have been testing my water is perrfect so far, yea i under stand they like mature water but i will be supplementing and feeding them daily so i don't see no problem:happysad:
I at least want to try a little frag and see how it goes i don't need to put 10 things right away in lol

In a large tank Pom Poms are no problem but you have a nano.
Inverts are very sensitive to water quality.
You should not put SPS in your tank. (You will hear this over & over again.
Do lots of reading on the subject also.
Good luck in the hobby.
BTW how long has your tank been up?

Good luck sounds like it would be a nice looking tank! But the other MR members are kinda right about ur tank not even being 100% cycled at 2 weeks (even with LR and LS) let alone stable enough in alkalinity and calcium to maintain sps. Get some nice zoos and shrooms to start and just build up to some sps down the road. You might want to look in to modifications to add a sump to add to the volume of the tank to help stabalize these parameters because with a smaller tank like a 28 it will be more difficult and Water change will be crucial.

Are you using RODI water? Are you running fuge or phose reactor to control these nutrients?

yea i understand, i have been reading for a long time. yea my back sump i turned into a sump with LR rubble. so far my AlK and Calsium are stable, my CAl is high when i do a water change then after a week its low again, i plan on doin weekly 3g water changes and adding a little kalewaser drip by drip.
as for coral i will be feeding them a pretty complex diet that i hope they will like a liitle of everything

yes im using RO water=P, and i have this seaweed thats growing really fast in my tank, i plan on cutting it soon, funny b/c i only started out with a small piece, i guess it suckz up nitrates and excess nutrients really well plus its also really nice to have in the nano a pretty plant.
