Atlantic blue tangs start out with a juvenile coloration of yellow and then as an adult will have a blue coloration. They will retain the horizontal strips on their bodies the entire time. They are a schooling fish, as are the majority of tangs of that shape, and are omnivorous, although their mouths are shaped well for scraping algae off of rocks (the shape of the mouth is the same as the yellow-eye or kole or kala tang). Just like most tangs, they will fight if you only keep 2 or 3 together, but if you keep a school, they will not. I have found that they are easy to keep, although not as well suited to the reef as some of the other tangs, as they appreciate room to swim about.
