Looking for recommendations on ATO

Ala minor precautions.

1. Limit the size of freshwater reservoir, so that in the event the ATO is stuck in the on position only a limited amount of water can be pumped into your system. (this is the most important one in my book)

2. Use a double float switch, that way two switches need to interfered with in order to have a serious problem. (Also very important in my book)

3. Many people, (not me) put their ATO on a timer (as per Master Swimmer's advice) limiting the amount of time that water can be pumping into their system. (The problem with this is that you may not realize there is a problem)


Use what you like.

We just add a pea sized dot of silicone to back of the suction cups (as per the instructions) when we install them. Haven't had a single instance of a overflow.

So far we have not had any problems with them holding to acrylic, but if you want to be extra safe, you can always adapt a Tunze bracket to hold the pressure chamber.

I don't think your going to find many people, if any, who have had a bad experience with autotopoff.com.

Eric, as Matt said, I haven't had a bad experience with autotopoff.com either. I've ordered from them numerous times too. However, that is no indication that ANYONE has not had a bad experience.

Correct. They've all been 100% positive, or I wouldn't recommend them.
