my long tentacle anemone seems to shrivel up once a day, every day. today he had some brown slimy stuff coming from him as well, and his buddy the clown would rip pieces off and spit it away from them.
what is going on here? i can't help but think he is uncomfortable.
all tests are at a good level, no answers there......anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, he is pooping :D . Perfectly normal, especially the day after you feed them. That's why the clown was pushing it away, he was housecleaning

and i assume the shrinking down to nothing is him expelling waste as well?

ok..another question:
in the wild, anemone find a place they like i guess...like in a crack or something near rocks. when i got this anemone, i cut off the top of a jar and jammed it into the sand and put him in it.
he escaped it once, and yesterday i saw him trying to stretch his way out of it again. so i removed the jar top and let him go where he wanted. now he is on the sand near a rock bottleneck, but he lays on his side. should i leave him like that, or should i try to dig the sand down for him ....or should i use the jar? :?

Best bet is to let him settle wherever he is happy. THey will seek a spot where flow, lighting etc. suits them.

 I got my first saltwater tank when I was 20 or so, and had kept freshwater since I was a kid with the proverbial goldfish in the proverbial bowl.

well big ups to you, you have sound advice and suggestions. ever consider having a salt water hotline, say $1.99 a minute.

hmmmm, could be lucrative.

So looks like he decided to pick a spot where the sand meets the rocks, that is the preferred place my LTA has too. I have had mine for four years, it always likes to be where the sand meets rocks, and wiggle it's foot down to hold either the glass bottom or a buried rock.

I occasionally see mine ball up like that, not frequently though. I wish I could remember if maybe this was more frequent when he was new to the tank. My LTA had been in someone else's tank for a long time when I got him, and now I have had him for several years, so there may be some acclimation period I am forgetting.

Your clownfish is like "Hey buddy, ya gonna wake up anytime soon??"

yeah....like i said...this goes on once a day. now i have been feeding him krill, and silversides, and he has been accepting whatever i give him.
so i fed him once a day. i know this is alittle too much, but i figured if he was taking the food, he must want it. now all the sudden he refuses whatever i give him. it's been 4 days. i sure wish i knew what this guy was trying to tell me  :? :(
