This weekend I saw something that I didn't expect to see. First of all R.I.P. Burgandy Hermit Crab. I guess it passed of natural causes. I found out it died cause for a couple of days it stood on a certain rock not really moving that much which was already unusual, so this weekend i decided to pick him up and out the shell he came motionless, so I knew it was dead. :( So right away all the fish started to nip at the body except for one my maroon clown. The crab was about 1" and the maroon is about 1.5". So the fish are nipping at the crab body and it falls all the way to the sand bottom. Here is the crazy part. When it hits the sand bottom my maroon fought the other fishes away from the crabs body picked it up and took it back up to its shell. Unbelievable, is that normal. Has anybody else seen something like that. It was like the clown knew he belonged in that shell. Crazy.

jhov2324,

Yes you will see all kinds of things going on in ones tank.

I've seen a clownfish throw a sand sifting goby into an anemone, in this case the clownfish did not like its neighbor!

Who knows what it was thinking...nature could be very gracefull.
I saw on the discovery channell one time this sad episode where
a hippo rescued a baby deer, I think from an alligator -a little too late-and started to lick its snout as if trying to revive it..it was amazing and never before seen on video.

LOL
My angel was picking on the clam so the clam shut on him. The clam had him in a headlock for about 20 min, 1 days later he was dead. :irked:
The clam is fine and looking for his next victim. lol

My Gold Stripe Maroon will carry anemone crabs back to the anemone if they ever run too far away from the anemone. It looks as if a mom not letting the children being out of sight. The member who traded my GSM may chime in to tell if it does the same in his possession.

My (Big Sis) tomatoe will rearrange landscape around her everyday, especially a particular scallop shell-she would carry it from the sand bed and kind of stuck it into the cervice of the rocks. For couple times, I unplug it all since I don't like it the middle of the rocks but only to find it back there when I wake up.

So I guess it's normal. Nature is interesting. Note: I am NOT being sarcastic. The above stories are real personnal encounters.
