I?m trying to raise magnesium level it goes up to 1180 and overnight comes back to 1050 using ?Seachem reef advantage magnesium? it is happening already over two weeks is there anything else I can do to keep level of my reef tanks

Hi Guri.

Are you running a kalk stirrer, if so it may be that you arnt dispersing the effluant quickly enough and your precipitating Mg out in the vacinity of the in-coming kalk mix. (adding a powerhead in the nearby vacinity usually cures this, or lowering the amount of kalk added) needless to say, making sure you are only dosing the clear part of the kalk will also limit precipitation as well

Alternately, have you recently introduced any new substrates as these will commonly bind up some Mg during the settling phase.

The only other thing that springs to mind is a calcium reactor thats being seriously over run to the degree its milking.....Ive seen funny things happen with chemistry when this is going on.
