Just want to get folks opinion on this--

I have a beautiful magnificent anemone that has done well at the top of my tank for the last year or so. It's very happy, and in a great spot.

My LFS just got in a blue carpet anemone, of which I had two in a prior tank, and I'm tempted to pick it up. It would go into the bottom of the tank, in a spot with a good sand bed and water flow.

While I know that the carpets can move, etc., would anyone consider housing these two animals in the same tank? The system is about 1000 gallons total, and they should live in two distinct areas of the tank. My concerns are chemical warfare and wandering of the carpet.

Thoughts?

They should be fine in a 1000 gallon system.

Just keep an eye on them until they settle down.

Also, carpets are pretty adept at eating fish. Just something to consider.

Thanks for the post. I'm putting the carpet (if it stays there) in a spot where the fish don't congregate, so hopefully it'll work out. If he moves, however, he may thin out the herd a bit.

Fish and invertibrates!

So if you have some shrimp or crabs or whatever... num num :)

Doesn't take much, a spooked fish that runs the wrong direction and wammo!

But yeah in a tank that size, you obviously are on top of keeping it good to keep the H. Magnifica so you should be fine for a carpet.
