My Favia released a whole bunch of milky white stuff into the water today. Completely clouded up the tank. The temp actually shot up to 87 earlier this week--heater malfunction. Do you think this is spawning, or the coral is dying? I've never seen this type of thing before. The coral otherwise looks fine. No aparent bleaching or color loss.

The stress could have induced a reproduction resoponse kind of like people do with RBTAs. If it looks good and you have the heater problem fixed, I'd leave it alone and keep an eye on it. Did you do a water change afterwards...befor the stuff starts to decay.

I've heard of "that" happening witha near death experiance, but I'm betting its just a spawning response. Makes sense I guess. If an animal was unsure of its future existance what better way to make sure it survives than make more of itself?
