Well I dove in and purchased a Marineland new in-sump protein skimmer. There are only 2 models a 100g version and a 300g version. I purchased the 2nd model because I have a 125g tank that has a lot of corals and animals.

Well so far it seems to be working well. LOTS of bubbles!
Instructions say it will take 5 days to adjust finally to my water conditions.

Day 1 - I needed to open up the flow to surpass their recommended level of water. Already within a couple of hours the level and the bubbles are starting to reach the top.

Cleaning is once a month.
Price, footprint and a needle wheel impeller were the determining factors in my getting this unit.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Well I paid $249.99 plus tax.
Footprint is about 6' in diameter and the height is about 2 feet.
The pro 300 model operates best with a least 8" of water in sump and the pro 100 3."
As for availability go to www.marineland.com and check with your zip code and they will let you know who carries it in your area.
