ok i took down my 150 and set a 220 in its place, i had a mature sailfin tang that was in the 150. i removed it so i can open up the tank for other tangs. i bought a juvi saifin and it is in the 220. (also a med naso and a small hippo) my girlfriend and daughter really like the mature sailfin, can i later on down the road put the mature sailfin in the 220 with a juvi sailfin?, is it a big risk or it can be done? ty

It's a risk, no doubt. But for a tank your size, the juvenile should be able to hide until the aggression subsides. Adding the mature tang last is definitely a good idea. Hopefully your Naso plays the "enforcer" role ... if it's a big Naso, I find they tend to quiet down the other tangs 8)

I don't think tangs pair off like that. They tend to be solitary or schooling.

that makes sence, *deep breath and exhale* i will probably get a purpl tang and powder blue next week or week after... ...i might try to add the sailfin then. you cant really say which way it will go, can you? or is it a death sentence for the little one? ty

Not at all. Make certain of a couple of things. First, there needs to be an appreciable disparity in size. The reasoning I have for that is that the larger fish, the one most likely to try to dominate, will be less likely to see a much smaller fish as a threat or invader of its territory (most of their crap is territory establishment and protection).

Second thing is to establish that smaller fish first.

Third is to ensure plenty of swimming space while providing LOTS of hidey-holes.

Fourth, if you can swing it, is to add in other fish who can stand up to the attention and will also hand some of it back (to the larger, more aggressive fishes), such as angels (dwarf species such as lemonpeels work well here).

ok have plenty of swimming room with the 220. ummm have a bi-color angle, coral bueaty and flame... ...dont think they will help, dont know though. len advise that the naso "might" act as a protector. the little one is in the 220 now.( how long will it take for it to be ''established'' ). ty

Yes, they'll help. They tend to eat many of the same things and have their own issues, will present plenty of distraction. Give the little one a week, then reassess how happy you think it is there. Does it find its places quickly? Does it explore the entire tank like it owns it? When it's to that point you should be ok. Two weeks would be plenty of time for that to happen unless the angels are giving the little sailfin grief.
