I have a feeling that in my last tank, i may have had a small amount of rust from one of the screws over my lights, fall in to the tank in the back. what would the effects of that be on a 12g nanocube and could this have been the reason that the tank had a hard time ever clearing?

Hmm...Herman, please elaborate...I had always thought it did and one of the reasons we plump with PVC pipes instead of metallic ones.

Herm, as you know, I would have to disagree.

Youre disagreeing because what youre not getting is that we are talking about iron oxide. You said that rust is probably the cause and it is not. Maybe another metal.

The reason why your mag5 was causing problems is the nickel plating on the screw. Not the rust itself. There is a difference. I will gladly take your mag5 and just remove the nickel plated screws :D.

isn't Iron Oxide pretty much what GFO is?

Herm there is more than just rusty screws there. The impellar housing is filled with rust also. I'll give you the pump to look at. .

Speaking of GFO's has anyone ever had problems with zoa's from running GFO'S? I clouded up my tank while replacing phosban and within the next 2 weeks my palys melted. Not blaming the GFO for sure though.
