MH Upgrade

A guy I buy my Zoa frags from has 2 250w fixtures with the bulbs for sale for 75 ea. without the ballast, one is a SE and the other is a DE. Is there any benefits for one over the other. I know the DE's need to have glass under them for the UV. Does one bulb perform better or longer than the other?

Yes there is a difference. the double ended fixture will most likely put out more light. And you are correct, they need to have UV glass under them.

what kind are the fixtures? and how old are the bulbs? MH bulbs are usually good for about 8 months or so. If they're older than that they're past their prime.
