I currently have a pair of Orange Firefish in my 75 gallon tank. Recently, a pair of Helfrichi Firefish have become available and I would love to get them. Would they be ok with my current pair of Orange Firefish or should I remove them and just keep the Helfrichi?

If there are any rumors that say "no", don't do it. I am currenty learning my lesson by thinking that a flame angel would be cool in my tank despite all the warnings. Boy, was I wrong. Now I have a BIG problem.

I got the Helfrichi pair this morning. So far, everyone seems happy. Both pairs are getting along great and both Helfrichi ate mysis tonight. The male Orange Firefish took one dart (pun intended since it's a dartfish) at the Helfrichi but then gave up on the idea. The four of them have been hanging out together all day.

Thanks Ben.

You're also right. They are magnificent fish. Very beautiful and they seem very sociable. They've been in my tank for a day and they're already coming to the front of the glass to say hi to me whenever I come.

I think that my Helfrichis are showing signs that they will spawn soon :D. They were wagging their tails and making that vibration movement, similar to the movements that clowns and cardinals make when they want to breed. The male then went down to the female's woohoo and started nudging her a little down there. There was a little more vibration movements and tail wagging and then it stopped and nothing happened. It was pretty cool though. It would be even cooler though, of course, if I can actually raise the babies to a mature size. It's too bad the babies will probably be dinner for other fish before I can catch them. Well, that and providing them with food won't be easy.
