More Sump Questions

Iv just started my 24 gallon seahorse/frag/gracilaria cultivation tank and decided that i would make a sump out of a 10 gallon tank that was sitting around. So far all i have is a mag 5 and the tank. It is a standard 10. I was wondering what else i would need (minus chaeto or a light, live sand or rock) to get it running. Im thinking if i put a sponge around the mag and a filter sock over the intake the flow will be calm enough to just throw chaeto lr and sand in there without baffles. I just dont want this sump to flood like my 75 did.

im actually gonna put baffles in it. My questions are: Do i drill holes in the baffles to let the water run through? Is the mag 5 going to be too powerful?

actually scrap this thread i decided to go with an hob skimmer. im growing gracilaria so the tank will b a fuge in itself.
