most beneficial snails for a tank

just wondering what kind of snails are most beneficial for a 46 g fowlr / reef tank, nass? turbo? nass snails burrow under the sand so i might get a couple of those so i can have quite a few without it looking cluttered. turbos arent very pretty to look at but do a good job. i just dont know and dont want to waste my money or be disappointed.

Astrea, nassarius, and cearith snails are the best IMO

If you are planning a reef or have a reef I wouldnt get the turbo snails... they do a good job but are big and knock over corals and such that arent glued down and are a PITA IMO.. Astrea, nassarius and cerith are the others that I have..

The best snails are Banded Trocus. The can flip themselfs over and live a verry long time.

Then get a nassarius for the sandbed.

trochus are monster eaters and nass rocks the sandbed

+1 for banded trochus, the one I have zooms around the glass, rocks, even sand. Make sure its the banded trochus though as the regular ones i have don't seem as active. Another great thing about them as mentioned is that they can right themselves and defend themselves against hermits, mine when something grabs onto it will swing left and right to toss whatever off.

I could never keep Trochus alive....I'd rate Astrea's and Nassarius (Ilyanassa) as the hardiest in my tanks.

Snails are great but when the large ones die behind the rocks thats another story.

Hi, Try a few Dove snails if you dont want intrusive large snails , The great thing with Doves is they breed like mad, so you only need a few from a friend, Great little cleaners aswell
