Moving sand

I want to move my sand from my current dt to my 30 gallon fuge and add black sand to the 90g dt. How can I do this without upsetting nitrates phosphates and amonia spike?

cant really do it without upsetting it. Best to take out all your livestock and put into a holding tank and then do your transfer.

I agree and I'd also do a water change.
Keep in mind you may experience a mini cycle by adding enough sand to cover a 90g tank. How deep a sand bed do you plan to add? Do you have a LOT of live rock in the tank that can help with the cycle you will have?

One more thing...have you seen how a black sand bed looks after it has been in a tank for a while? Worms & other critters that burrow into your rock will knock bits of L/R onto your sand bed and after a while it will be speckled with gray rock. I know a few people who were disappointed after doing this as it didn't stay totally black...just a heads up

I was going to do a black sand bed in my new build, but after MANY people told me this same thing, I decided against it.
