We've decided to move 75 gal reef tank to different room in house this Saturday. Its only about 30 ft but I anticipate lots of stress and yelling, watery mess, but hopefully no real destruction (to people, house or sea creatures).
I figure i'll transfer LR/coral, then fish, into buckets with as much water as possible. Hopefully reduce tank to sand and minimum water...the easier to remove from stand and move to temporary spot in new room.
Then empty sump and transport that, still in stand, to new room. Put tank back on stand. Then the tricky part of adding water back without creating too much sand disturbance. Let settle for few hours and then add LR followed by fish.
The do a 15 gal water change the next morning....in case the move stirred up too much gunk.
Any tips, pointers, etc from those who have tried this before would be appreciated.
