Multiple Firefish Species

Hello Everybody,

Quick question about Firefish. Currently I have a 72 Gallon Bow front with 1 Firefish (the regular kind with red, white). I want to add a purple firefish. Has anybody had any problems with this?

i had them mixed in a 120 they seem to think they have wings and tend to jump

I dont know how to sex them but im sure 2 males will fight and like most schooling fish there is always a need to establish a pecking order.

i never seem to have any luck with the firefish, they seem to disappear very often, i had purple, helli and the regular ones all in the same tank and all of them do just disappear but never seem them fight

Ive noticed the 2 different color ones I've had darting at eachother on many occasions..they do this until one goes into hiding.

I guess I'll keep one in a clear case temporarily and see what happens.

ihave a 72 bow as well..i think it shouldnt be a problem since theres enough space for them to each take a side in the tank. just make sure you have a lid/mesh covering the tank. i lost 4 fish before i learned to put a mesh cover..

There are several kinds of firefish/dartfish Nemateleotris decora,N helfrichi,N magnifica to name a few.I personaly had one ,few day later i added four more ,big mistake .The first one harass the hell out of them.Soon after there was 0.I think i should have added them all at once. Whatever you decide make sure you have a cover on your tank and no anenones.

ive had both in a 20 gallon nano... 2 of each no problems lasted at least a yr b4 i broke the tank down... however one did jump.. make sure u have glass tops..or sumthing..
