Hello:
I just want to say that I've had the pleasure of speaking and meeting a few people from MR and you all have been a great help. I am upgrading from a 40g that was supposed to be a 75g upgrade and now is a 120g upgrade.
It has been quite some time since I have had a tank set up because of house construction and nursing school (night/weekends/part time) but the time has come and I have gotten the nod from the old lady so here I go. I also have three children and they are excited and I would love for them to enjoy the hobby as do I.
I am in the process of gathering the equipment and I am picking the tank up on Thursday. My first order of business for this weekend (preferably today) is to install two new header beams to re-support my joists. My tank is going on the second floor and my mother lives in the apartment below me and although she is a pain in the behind, the thought of my mom wearing a 120g makes me a little nervous LOL.
KathyC and Russ, thank you so much for schooling me on this whole joist-header-beams business. My mother has NO idea how much she needs to thank KathyC for realizing that I might have run into problems if I was to just install the tank without re-supporting the joists. I'd like to add that I do not think I know any women that are as mechanically inclined as KathyC, you go girl!!
Anyway, have to head in to Yonkers now and sorry for the long post but when I get back my joists project begins, wish me luck.
Joe
