My Acan Led Experience

I thought I would share my experience with Acan lighting I had today. First let me give a little backround on the light. About 4 months ago I bought an Acan 101 light to get my feet "wet" in this ever changing led market. I placed this light over a shallow reef tank(18" high) for the last 4 months. It has done a very good job at not only maintaining but growing many corals in this tank consisting of bolth lps and sps. Around three weeks ago I noticed that my white led's were not coming on.....uh oh I thought here we go; not even 4months and having problems already. I thought this was going to be a pain but wanted to see if indeed Acan would honor its loaner plan. For those of you that are unaware of there loaner and warranty...they give you a loaner if your light needs repair and they have a 2 year "bumper" to "bumper" warranty. So today I called Acan lighting and spoke to a very nice gentleman that said you could mail it or come down in person and we would take care of you. I decided to go to them since it was only a 15 minute drive. Upon arriving I was greeted and brought into their "led" room to talk to them about my problem. To make a long story short not only did they take my light... they gave me a brand new model !!! This unit that replaced mine has full controll over the LED's (0-100% dimmability for blues and whites as well as moon lighting)in addition to a newer ballast which is a 1/3 of the size. Furthermore, they gave me another bumper to bumper 2yr warranty from today's date. Now this is what I call service and customer support. I drove there expecting to get mine fixed and a loaner and left with the latest and greatest version!!! Kudos to James and his company. People if you are looking to jump into led's look no further. These guys arent going anywhere and do so right by us its scary. Oh and by the way the new acan 103 light is pretty dam awesome. I know now what will be lighting my Display tank...:splitspin

Exceptional Customer Service was the main aim of Acan Lighting since it's inception. When I heard the other night that you had an issue with your light, I knew you would be pleased when you contacted them.

James runs a first class business. If I ever made the leap into LED lighting, the ONLY place I'd think to go would be to Acan.

This is good to hear. James seems like a quality guy. This customer service makes the higher prices well worth it. When I had problems with my LEDs (not Acanlighting) the second time, I ended up paying to fix them even though they were well under the 1 year warranty. Apparently it was my fault my leds stopped working after 4 months. I learned my lesson though.

They are about $625 per foot.

Thane..I told you brotha..they do good business. I don't know why you got yours already and they said I'll be getting mine in the mail as I would have gladly picked mine up! But it's been almost 2 weeks it should be here any day now.

I was mostly referring to the A103, didn't think there would be a whole lot of interest in the A101.

Well who said anything about the 103? Thane has the 101 and stated it. I have it as well. From what I have heard the a 101 is better than the 103 it's just different bulb variation and nearly twice the price.

If you have a shallow tank(less than 18" deep) the 101 will do a fantastic job for bolth sps & lps. The 102 and 103 is a much stronger unit. In addition, the 103 has 75 degree lenses on the outer led & 55degrees on the inner clusters of led's. The 101's are about $350 a foot, 102's & 103's roughly $600 a foot.
