I was awake this morning when the lights came on. Right away I noticed some of my bleached out\dead Halimeda smoking. It seemed to stop after all the lights were in full gear. The tank was also a little cloudy but that seems to have cleared up too. I'm never up this time of day (graveyard shift) so I never see the lights come on in the morning.

What do you all think this could be? Does Halimeda go asexual ? (sp?)

Sounds like it was going sexual. It appears that your filters removed the spores/semen/gametes. But if the fish are gasping and the corals whither,I would add carbon.
