Im leaving for college in August and im going to some how have to show my parents how to take care of a 75 LPS, Zoa and Mushroom reef from scratch. I want to get things that will make it easier for my parents so that the $2,000 i put into the tank doesn't get wasted :irked:. I know im going to get an ATO and probe testing equipment so that my parents can dose easily and if they forget top off my house doesnt burn down. I have a 20 gallon sump with chaeto and 15 lbs of LR as a fuge and a phosban reactor with phosban and a pretty reliable coralife 125 super skimmer. I have an overflow with an aqua lifter that I think is pretty reliable too. I have 125 lbs of LR and about 4 inches of sand when I do regular water changes my tank is extremely clean and beautiful and even when I forget my tank is really nice not to be pompus :splitspin. I'm also thinking about taking out my lps so that my parents don't have to be elbow deep in the tank spot feeding my 15 acan heads I couldn't even imagine what would happen. Ill probably be home every 3 months so I was thinking I would get away with doing the basic things like changing phosban, replacing lights or any service that requires fish knowledge. Any other suggestions on equipment that would make things easier? I meant in three months in the title

^^^ I don't know if this is going to work unless your parents are really interested in this hobby. As KOSTYA above stated, if this is for more than 3 months, you might want to consider other options.

Why don't you break down the tank. No need to put that much pressure on your parents.

Set it up again when you can.

It is not fair to your parents or to the corals.
