Hi mr I bought 3 head torch coral last week and its not doing good I don't see it opening and now I see on one of the head the tissue is pealing off, my water parameters are below. I have reduced the flow.

Nitrates 5

Phosphates 0.05

PH -------- 8.00

I am going to check alk, Cal and Mag tonight. Please let me know if someone can keep this in their healthy system until it can come back..

It might be Brown Jelly disease. No guaranteed cure for it. I had it once and got rid of it with a dip and then blowing away any crud that came back with a turkey baster.

i had the same problem. i heard its from overfeeding the corals. i lost 3 torch corals that way ( 1 head each). its from high nutrients. the way to help with the nutrients is to get snails ( also i heard ).

How old is your tank, how big and what other corals are there.I have had all kinds of corals over the years and rarely was successful with torches.
But when any coral is put in a new environment there is risk it will not tolerate it. It could be light, water movement or just the water parameters, how different it is than where it was before. Also there may be other corals that are giving off chemicals that the coral can not handle. Moving it back to tank it came from may help.

i want to thank everyone for advice and all opinions and my tank is alomst 4 months old and i started the system back in Feb and i have snails and arround 7-10 fishes. None of the fish died they are all happy. So i am going to put this torch in one of my friends tanks which is mature and well established and then see if it does bettere, if it does better then that means my tank is not mature enough or not ready yet, i have zooos in the tank which are doing fine.

Look up hydrogen peroxide dip. What i read was it will stop brown jelly. I believe its 1/20 dip for 15 to 20 minutes. But read on it before hand. Dont just take me word

I was going to recommend trying this out (research first because I have no personal experience). I heard this was the only thing shown to stop brown jelly disease.

Thanks everyone for advise and special thanks to jwisson who was available and replied to me right after one text and was willing to come by to pick it up at my house and gave me his test kits to test my water parameters. I am telling all this because I believe he should be recognized for this.
