Nassarius snails - out and about?!?

I've repeatedly noticed two large nassarius snails on top the substrate and on the glass for extended periods. They don't usually do this so I'm figuring something must be up. My water parameters tested ok but I'm wondering if the bioload is too low to sustain these guys?

Tank specs: 29 gal with 30 lb LR, crushed coral substrate, remora hang-on skimmer

Inhabitants: Maroon clown and a handful of snails/hermits

Also, the tank has been up and running for roughly 4 years.

Any ideas?

my nas. snails are carnivores...they usually clean up the mysids my fish miss during feeding time...thats about the only time i see them since they come out mostly at night...i have supplemented them with a little extra food at times by dropping a small piece of krill in and letting them go at it..you can try that if you feel there not getting enough to eat..

mine do that too here and there. i highly doubt they are hungry in my tank. i think it's normal.

Cool, thanks for the replies. I got a little nervous from not seeing these snails to seeing two of them out of substrate on three consecutive days.

I think I will drop a couple pieces of krill in and see what happens. If nothing else the hermits will love me!

They'll hang out on the glass to lay their eggs as well. I wouldn't be worrying too much.
