My Question is regarding Sea hare's, Slugs,& or Nudibranch type

they never live long in tanks.most have a specific diet thats not available in tanks.sea hares eat algae fast and then die of starvation.some nudis eat sponges others flatworms ect.better not spend money on something that will mostly die..i found out the hard way
hope that helps

Hey i have a sea slug that has been in my tank for about 6 months, i bought him because i was having a terrible hair algae problem (my tank was about 8 weeks old at that time). You may not believe me but all the hair algae was gone withing 48 hours. My tank is only 45 gallons so i do not want to get another sea slug or sea hare so i guess i can recommend to get one because if you get more than one chances are one may not get enough food. Some people may tell you once all the algae is gone what will you do the sea slug will die, but in my experice mine has not died yet.

Thanks for the feedback Folks.
See my issue is that, I have ad this tank running w/ a lot
of LR for about 4yrs so it's an established reef w/
lot's of little animals & things living on the LR.
I've in the past, tried by scrubbing the rocks & netting the debris
For the most part the algae isn't as bad as it once was.
I really don't want to scrub anymore.
I only use RO water
I know the tank can look a lot better
Thanks Again

rocknreef, I use to have a similar problem when I was using tap water, and even now that I use strictly ro/di I allowed my reef to go a few months without a water change, and bingo I started seeing the beginings of the dreaded hair algae. I went right back to weekly water changes, and low an behold all traces of ha & red slime are gone.
It may even be that you need to step up to an RO/DI unit instead of just an RO.
It is best to remedy the cause rather then to purchase animals to take care of the symptoms.
Preventive maintenance goes a longgggggggggggggg way.:)

Do you have a skimmer? Not a cyclone one either.LOL
How often do you do water changes compared to your bioload, and your feeding schedule & amount?

they are fine as long as you have the right tank conditions, i have had success with hares, nudis, and others. just watch out if you have a large enough thing like them that if they die get them out fast so they dont kill your stuff with their toxin. if you have a decent tank and take proper care of it you shouldnt have a problem. also watch out for what nudi's you get cuz they might eat corals and stuff you dont want them to eat
