Hello,
I plan to upgrade from a 55Gallon FOWLR to a 130 gallon FOWLR. The 130G was used as a reef setup, it has 1 1/2" drill return with a Dolphin 1/15 Horsepower pump as a return pump. Since I am not looking to have any coral in the tank. I think the 1/15 dolphin is little bit too powerful for my fish only setup. Any recommanded pump size? I am also willing to trade the dolphin for the right size pump if anyone has extra and fits my 130g

That sounds a world better and relatively standard on custom made tanks.

What do you plan to keep in the tank is most importantly going to drive the answer - the Iwaki's are electric hogs and power horses -

If you're looking for a decent pump with average flow, consider something smaller - keep in mind, once you start to get smaller in water volume, the pump gets smaller and so does the outlet and inlet.

Check out the GENX PCX-55 or the MAK4 (would need step up adapters to 1") - both are cheap, electrically efficient and quiet.

Hope that helps

sorry, the pump to the tank is 1", the drain to the sump is 1.5"

Im running my 125 fowlr w/ a mag 9.5, I like the slightly lower turnover, so my skimmer can do what it does, aswell my reactor etc in the sump.

130 gallon setup

need some advice on the 130 gallon Fish only setup. I will have a 30 gallon sump. I am debating on to have a fuge or in sump skimmer? does having a fuge necessary for a fish only system?
