So there's talk about renovating the place, pulling carpets off and putting down wooden floors, kitchen getting redone, bathroom getting redone.

It's bittersweet because the tank is thriving. Anyone have any tips/advice? I'm planning on just getting some huge plastic bins that can accomodate for everything, leave it in there 2-3 days running and hope for the best when it's time to move it but anything I should definitely look out for that have maybe screwed people up in the past? Should I anticipate livestock death? =(

Or maybe it's time to upgrade to another tank! But the spot the tank is in is perfect... blah

Bummer that you have to move things, but if you're going to do the floor, etc, then it sounds like you have to take the tank apart.

Make sure each of the bins you use has good flow, temperature stability and that you keep tabs on salinity, etc.

A day or two or three without lights will be okay for your livestock. If it's going to be much more than that, I'd maybe try to rig some lighting of some sort.

Obviously, try to time it so that you can take the tank down and set it up again in the least time possible.

Watch out for issues with the sand - one of our members had a lot of flat worms in her sand and tried to re-use sand after a tank move, and enough of the flatworms had died in the sand that when she re-installed the sand and all the rock and corals, the toxins from the dead and dying flatworms killed much of the livestock in her tank!

Best of luck!

Sliders would be a great idea, wow. But my cabinet has no bottom, and the sump just rests on the floor so that's otu of the question.

Just starting a general discussion on things to look out for. Good idea on the sand. I may just swap tanks - thinking of going for a cube 45g or 60g. This would at least make the whole ordeal a bit more sweet lol.
