I'm starting a 55 gallon SUMP-LESS tank , (with a canister filter) but I need help choosing a protein skimmer. My choice are (A) AquaC Remora Hang-on with maxi-jet 1200, (B) Aqua Medic Turboflotor Blue 1000, (C) Coralife Super Skimmer for 65 gallon, (D) Eshopps Hang-on, or (E) SeaClone 150?

Please give me your honest opinion and why your selection is the best!! I know there are better skimmers, but these are in my price range! If some one thinks something else is better and is in the same price range, please feel free to suggest it to me!!

Thank you for your time!!!

I'm also a big remora fan, love my Remora Pro on my 90g.

The only real complaint I have is that it's loud out of the box, but it's not hard to mod it to quiet it down a good deal.

I dont know about the super skimmer, out of that group. I used on to cure some rock and was not that happy with the performance. I know alot of people use the remoras.

I have the Remora pro and i like it - I agree, it is a noisy skimmer, I was at Marki24 , he has the Deltec MC300 i think it was. very quiet. If i was to do it over again I would go with the Deltec.

Klewis....

Did you add a noise baffle above the injection head? It's quick, easy, and cuts the noise down quite a bit. All you need to do really is pull the cup off, stuff a piece of rag on top of the injector head between it and the cup, and put the cup back in. I was shocked how much noise that removed.

I'm going to be making a more permanent acrylic piece to do the same job next week, after I get my sump running. I'll take pictures when I do.

Thanks for the tips Hans, a picture would be helpful because I'm not 100% on what you're describing. Shoot me a pm when you have a pic, it would be appreciated.
