Out of curiosity why are you going with 1" bulkheads? I can't imagine you would be running that much flow through a 10 gallon. These tanks are pia to drill because the glass is very thin. Make sure you are going at least the diameter of the hole away from any edges to help.

You can do it, its easy. Get a piece of wood or something with a hole the same size as the bit, to hold the bit in place to get it started and act as a template. Once you have a grove in the glass the bit will stay in place so you can remove the wood/template. Take your time, don't push down on the bit, and keep it wet and cool with a spray bottle or something throughout the process. Good idea to put a towel or something inside the tank to catch the glass when it drops in.
Worse case scenario you have to got to petco and buy another 10 gal tank for 10 bucks
