Just take a jar and put food in it and leave a net right next to the entrance and don't move until the fish goes into the jar, once he's in the jar cover the jar opening with the net and lift the jar out of the tank with the net over the opening. I caught two damsels like that after trying for a good month.
reefs as funny as it sounds id like t oconsider myself a proffesional fish catcher tried the jar and gatoraide bottle basically think i am going to start pulling rock out instead of farting around anymore
Seriously though, I was about to go to that point to pull out rock but the jar method really worked. You just have to sit there for about 5-10 mins to see when the fish goes in the jar...once it's eating you can easily move the net to cover the jar opening. I'm telling you, damsels are some of the most difficult fish to catch and I caught 2 doing that. You should just try it, a clear jar about 3-4" in diameter, some frozen food (I used a brine shrimp cube and let it defrost in the jar so they fell as the cube melted) and a net big enough to cover the opening
But hey, if you can easily get a "professional" fish trap by all means go for it
its been there for 3 days :irked: and normally i have no problem cathcing them, dont feed tank for a day or 2 then put bottle in with food and poof, but no poof this time
I feel your pain. I'm been trying to catch an Africian Flameback for a week now. He's nipping at my corals. He wont even go near the trap. My tangs go in and drag out the bait all the time.
