Netting Question?

I am making screens for the top of my tank using a type of pond netting and aluminum screen frames. Is there any danger in using aluminum that close to the water?

Possibly the rust from salt creep?

Yes aluminum can rust, it'll become aluminum oxide.

If you go to sports authority and by netting that they use to catch bait fish it works great
i just made screens for the top of my tank i think i have pics in my album
i was debating the same thing a month ago took me forever to fine this stuff and it runs around 20 bucks

No issue at all. I've used the aluminum usually used for screen windows for a while now without a problem. Never experienced any rusting either. Just give them a good clean up every so often.

Hmm- we use all aluminum ladders with the FD- they are subjected to every element known to man- from heat to fresh and saltwater- we clean them once a week with soapy water but never dry them off. I have never seen a ladder rust yet and there are ladders that are 20+ years old on the back of our fire trucks. The only time we replace then is if the integrity of the metal is compromised from extreme heat or if they develop stress cracks at any of the joints but I have never seen an ounce of rust on any of them. Like dombowski said- you'll be fine just clean them up either weekly or at each water change. Either way good luck with whatever you choose to do.
