New tank setup, cycle question.

Hey Everyone,

I've got a dumb question. I just got a little 3gal tank that I'm setting up to make a mangrove tank that I may eventually connect to my 34gal tank and treat it as a display refugium. Gotta sell the wife on the idea first, but I got a bunch of mangroves from FL recently and figured I'd give it a try.

The question is, will the tank have to cycle if I used dry sand, but a few chunks of live rock?

I've never setup a new tank, only bought an established one from a friend who was upgrading to a bigger tank.

As long as you put some established live rock with the sand you should be fine.
