Hello everyone... My name is Alex and I'm new to this forum. I am setting up a new rimless tank with the help of a friend of mine who has been doing tanks for over 10 years. I just need help with one thing from everyone. I'm looking for an affordable light for my aquarium that looks good. Any suggestions?

Do you know if you want LED T5 or MH ?

Personally I like the EcoTech Radions but you did say you wanted affordable
I'm fairly new to this too but
I'd keep an eye out on the for sale forum for guys selling some lights there were a few selling AI LEDs
Hope this helps.

Preferably LED... It will keep cool and save money lol

A common misconception. If you want the best combination of color and growth, go with T5's. If you run LEDs the majority of electric savings will be eaten up by the constant use of your heater(s).

I run everything from Halides to Sol Blues. The Sols have very good growth but poor color on the sps corals I had. Halides have impressive growth and good color. Heat was a minimal issue. T5's gave the best color and heat was a non issue. I am setting up my new 75 gallon reef and could run any light I wanted to over it. I am purchasing an 8 bulb dimmable ATI T5 for it.

The led diehards will argue my points. Take some time and use the search function and make your own, educated choice.
