Yeah, Compatible. Just remember the BTA is a PITA, they like to move around when u don;t want them to and need a mature tank. Some can be more sensitive than others, multiply like rabbits and grow the size of a basketball if given the right parameters. =0)

Welcome and you might as well start planning an upgrade because its eventually going to happen with something in your tank;). WELCOME TO THE ADDICTION!

Buy yourself some books and reading about it all as there is alot, and ask around if you have questions. People here are real helpful unless your setting up a shark tank. Don't take store advice (omg fishtown horror stories) as most of the time they are trying to sell u something.

Welcome to MR.

There are no rules, the amount of rock depends on what you plan to keep and what you prefer your tank to look like.

You can't entirely go by weight when it comes to rock, some is more porus than other, and some is purchased wet..
Your rock is the biological filter in your tank, so depending on what you plan on stocking - that should give you part of the answer :)

The other thing is aesthetics..with only a low 'pile' of rock, you won't be able to get SPS up high enough to your lighting and a low pile gives you less real estate to place corals.
Some folks have few rock but have it arranged in 'columns' (usually built up & supported using acrylic rods.

There are many options :)

Don't be scared of making a sump or think it's unnecessary.I didn't want one but when I got it I was so grateful, I definitely saw a change in my parameters and algae growth. If you think you need more rock just get "dead"rock so you don't have to worry about price.

its not even the price it's the real estate that the rock takes up. i wanna be able to have almost anything in my tank and i know the more bio filtration the better. i have heard u need to have 1 to 2 pounds of rock per gallon. i think im going to get another 35 lbs which would give me 105 lbs in a 72gal tank.

Well weight is a bad way to measure it, just get alot of rock thats very porous so you dont have to get more then if you got solid rock

edit: have you looked into a dsb(deep sand bed 3+ inches deep)? just saying that now before you add anything and you cant change it
