I had gotten a cleaner shrimp one week ago and from day one he has crawled into a rock and refuse to come out during the day. He is presently in a 90 gallon reef tank. Only at night he would come out. Any suggestion how to train this shrimp to come out during the day or possibly how to trap him so I can put him in my nano so I could at least see him during the day.

Do you have anything in the tank that eats shrimp?

There are allot of variables, but he may be just acclimating to life in his new home. It is not unusual for new additions to hide out from anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

Noctural Shrimp

No there nothing that would eat it. Only a yellow tang who only wants to get cleaned. I wonder if I should of placed it in an acrylic container for several day so that it get used to the surroundings when I first got it. Somebody suggested that I get another cleaner shrimp then it may not be shy and come out.

A second shrimp sounds like a better plan, mine always hang around together. The poor thing would probably be scared to death if you hung it in a container. :(

After I had told someone that the shrimp died, she later corrected me that it didn't and saw the shrimp still in its place I thought it was dead but it was his molted skin. The shrimp had molted over night and the shell was on the rocks. It still hiding it his hole.
