Normal for maxi to shutter

I picked up tWo maxi jets to replace factory pumps on my jbj nano that have crapped out. Only problem now is that the pumps make a shuttering sound every time they kick on. I have them on the factory wavemaker. Is this normal to make this noise for maxijets. Old pumps never made any noise.
