Me and my girl friend recently just purchased a French bull dog pup from Ivan's french bulldog in staten island and we spent 1800 and then another 400 on vet bills and the vet noticed something wrong with its eyes so we called Ivan to let him no and he wanted us. To bring to dog to get checked by his vet in staten island I work full time n live on the north shore of long island so it's not easy to go out there for a vet visit. We looked up the bet he reccomended and had the worst rattings and is def Ivan's friend. So we took the dog to the best eye doctor and he found big problems with its eye called logo ram blinders I ( I spelt that wrong) which means the dog has round eyes n there too big so he can't blink correctly and can't shut his eyes all the way so they dry out n are causing blindness. The doc says its passed from the parents , I no this breeder is going to make me run around or try n pull a fast one what does anyone reccomended anyone please help we don't no what to do

I'm gonna call Ivan tm but I wanna protect myself n figure out what to do the surgery cost is 1900 estimate.

This guy is gonna say come trade the dog in for another one
But I don't want another dog from him or another dog at all I'm gonna look at the newer dog n be like u took place of my first dog ! No I don't think so

So guys please help lawyer advice any advice

Maybe try n start a fundraiser to raise funds for this dog I'll have a bake sale or sell my soul

What a shame to hear. Most of these people selling pups are the biggest scammers out there. All about money and not the health of the animal.
We stopped looking last year because its such a frustrating situation

I had an English bulldog that had some major health issues. Cherry eye being one of them. Looks like redish skin bulging through eye lid. One required surgery, the other one ointment drops. She was allergic to grass, overweight, took glucosamine and steroid based meds on daily basis. Reeding is actually a cheaper hobby!

I don't know Ivan, but I am sure you don't need him to drain your bank account to tell you ur p.up has some health issues, most if not all bulldogs have concerns. Find a vet you trust and follow advice. Be careful what food you buy as my dog was allergic to the grains/fillers that our vet told us to buy (royal canine) so we started boiling chix, carrots, sweet potatoes, and occasionally salmon. My dog did better with this diet and I found that. Information on Internet and tried it out. Getting another dog or returning this pup is simply asking for a different bulldog issue with the new one.

IMO 1800 was pretty good price, even with the quick vet bills. Try getting insurance well worth it if having problems so soon, good luck!

When i began making my bulldog food it actually wound up being cheaper in long run. I bought whatever chicken was on sale and made few days worth at a time. You could prob use other meet as well, i figured the chicken was bland and didn't upset her stomach as much.

I really don't know the legal answer but i don't think he would be required to pay for the surgery. Most of the time they are given two options, pay for the surgery and/or take the puppy back and give a replacement. Even though you don't want to hear this, i believe that a replacement puppy is all that a breeder is required to do when one of there dogs have a serious health problem.

I'm sorry for your situation. I have 1 dog and 2 cats and the cities vets are GREEDY and untrustworthy. I have noticed now that the VET is more interested in making money than caring for your animal. I was priced 1500$ for a teeth cleaning for a chihauhau... r u kidding me!! I wish you luck with the bulldog, but PLEASE keep in mind, you WILL be spending a lot more on him/her during her life. Bulldogs are extremely expensive to care for CORRECTLY. They have big issues in their latter years. Trouble walking, breathing, seeing and sleeping. About the breeder, whats to do? Return the animal or keep it, thats it! If i was in your shoes, i'd keep it and go for broke. Goodluck and they a wonderful companions.

As far as i know the breeder has to offer you a replacement or pay for the surgery, what ever he would like. As thirty6 says bulldogs tend to have issues. Also what thirty6 mentions is also true about the food there is no such thing as a good dry dog food just does not exist and causes lots of health issues. You should check this out for yourself there are good wet foods very costly, the cooking method thirty6 mentions is good but you can take it a huge step further and try a RAW diet this will save you on your vet bills. Your vet will not like this method and the truth is they just dont know and it hurts there pockets, makes the sixth BMW a little harder to get. Lots of info out there on it i can tell you first hand it works my dogs never see the vet except regular visits. Good luck.
