Ideally it is best to let new SW mix overnight..for 2 purposes..one to allow the salt mix to completely dissolve (some brands dissolve much better than others) and secondly so the water gets oxygenated by the pump that is mixing the water (you want to distrub the surface of the water while it is mixing to allow oxygen in.)

I realize you were in a rush to do the water changes due to the iodine overdose, but unmelted salt crystals can do a lot of damage in a reef tank:eek:

I have the pump for the water moving it around and such. I am going to add the salt slowely next time and give it a day to disolve but yes I was in a rush. I guess that is why the rock si the way it is. Thank you very much.

How do I bring up the salt now, still teh water changes. it is right now 1.020

I have been seeing the same glowing orange color on my LR as well. Have tried to take pictures, but they never come out.

also, more often than not, there are miniature starfish hanging around near the orange parts. Orange patches being about half the size of a fingernail, and the stars a bit smaller. the orange seems to come and go to different parts of the rock almost nightly.
