This is my plan for a new reeftank which i plan to set up.
Its design is for a sps dominated system.
Any one have any comments or ideas?????????? :?:
Main Tank Dimensions
Dimensions: 76cm L x 51cm W x 51cm H/30" L x 20" W x 20" H
Volume: 197 l./43 gal.
Volume after displacement: 177 l./39 gal.
Surface area: 0.39 sq m/4.17 sq ft
Total system volume including sump approx 45 Gallons, 204 litres
Recommendations for SPS system Lighting
My lighting = One 250 watt 10,000k bulb, and two 24 watt blue T5’s
Giving 298 watts of lighting
Recommended total wattage: 387.1 watts (provides 1000 w per m2)
Additional wattage required: 89.1 watts
Recommended number of lights: 1.5 metal halide lights @ 250w
Additional lights required: 0.4 metal halide lights @ 250w
Dimensions: 76cm L x 51cm W x 51cm H/30" L x 20" W x 20" H
Surface area: 0.39 sq m/4.17 sq ft
Current total wattage: 298 watts
Current light intensity: 769.8 watts per m2
Flow 8O
Two Stream pumps each producing between 2100 L/H and 7000 L/H and a Eheim return pump producing 2000 – 2500 L/H.
This gives a total water turnover between 34 times the volume every hour and 88 time the volume every hour. The low figure was worked out using the pump at full flow and the streams on at 30%. The high figure was worked out using the return on full and streams at 100%. I also took a bit of the return for head height.
Sump
Dimensions
: 46cm L x 36cm W x 36cm H/18" L x 14" W x 14" H
Volume: 58 l./13 gal.
Volume after displacement: 52 l./11 gal.
Surface area: 0.16 sq m/1.75 sq ft
Using the following input parameters
Tank Length = 30 inches
Tank Width = 20 inches
Height of Water above Overflow = 2 inches
Flow through sump = 500 gph
Sump volume is calculated as
Sump Volume need to handle tank overflow = 5.2 Gallons
Recommended Minimum Volume for sump = 10.2 Gallons
Using the following input parameters
Tank Length = 30 inches
Tank Width = 20 inches
Height of Water above Overflow = 1 inches
Flow through sump = 500 gph
Sump volume is calculated as
Sump Volume need to handle tank overflow = 2.6 Gallons
Recommended Minimum Volume for sump = 7.6 Gallons
Skimmer is a Aqua Medic turboflotor 1000, And the sump is a Sump/Refuguim combo containing algae.
Main tank is to have live rock, not sure how much and a 2-3" sandbed
The tank will be fed 1ml of coral food every 15 minutes
